What can I expect on my first visit?

The first visit will last 1 hour and will include a thorough assessment. This includes asking questions about your condition and then a physical examination. After this the problem will be discussed and a treatment programme planned.

How long will a follow up visit last?

Further visits will last half an hour.

What should I wear?

For examination of the lower limb it is best to wear shorts. For a neck condition it will be necessary to remove all upper body clothing apart from a bra for ladies, and for a lower back condition it is best to be examined in underwear alone. This is so that the spine can be thoroughly examined. Of course if you are not happy to undress clothing can be kept on.

By what method can I pay?

The clinic can take cash or cheques.

Where can I park?

There is ample free parking outside the clinic.

Do I need to be referred for treatment?

No you can refer yourself for Physiotherapy. If you are using health-insurance to fund your treatment you may need to be referred by your GP.

What if I decide it's not for me or I don't like the treatment?

You are under no obligation to have or to continue treatment. Just let us know and we can discuss the way forward for you individually.

Which conditions do you treat?

Give us a call and a therapist can discuss this with you.

What qualifications do the physiotherapists have?

All the physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy which is the governing body for physiotherapy and all are registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). The practice is fully insured.

Do you communicate with my doctor?

If your GP has referred you for physiotherapy then at an appropriate time, maybe during or at the end of treatment, a letter is sent to the GP. If you are a self-referral you will be asked if you would like a letter sent to your doctor.

Do you have provision for disabled customers?

Yes - there is a small ramp for entry through wide doors. There is a disabled toilet. We do not have a hoist

What if I need to change or cancel an appointment?

As soon as you know you need to change your appointment give us a call.

Virtual Physio:

It is now possible to use video calling to get expert physiotherapy advice and treatment in the home or office without the need for face-to-face contact.

What does Virtual Physiotherapy involve?

After scheduling an online appointment time, a link will be sent to your email to join a video call with one of our Specialist Physiotherapists. On the video call you will be assessed using a range of questions designed to understand why you are getting pain and what can be done to improve things. You will be asked to perform a range of movements and tests.  From the assessment your physiotherapist can usually get a good idea of what the problem is and formulate a treatment plan to address your problems.

What problems can you treat with Virtual Physiotherapy?

Most conditions can be treated virtually, giving advice on exercises and what to expect.  Give us a call to discuss whether you would benefit from a Virtual Physiotherapy Assessment or an appointment in clinic.

What physiotherapy treatments can you offer with Virtual Physiotherapy?

  • The opportunity to discuss your medical history, mechanism or onset of the injury and your treatment goal.

  • Assess how much pain you are in and how well you can move, relating this to everyday function and sport.

  • Provide education and advice about your diagnosis and prognosis, and how to get back to normal.

  • Teach exercises to relieve pain and promote normal movement and highlight exercises to avoid.  Exercise is consistently backed up in the literature as one of the most effective forms of treatment.

  • The exercises which are taught are supported with exercise sheets to follow at home and which are often then  progressed.
